The Henning Hornets trailed 37-33 at halftime to Wadena-Deer Creek, but the Hornets outscored the Wolverines 42-30 over the final 18 minutes to record a 75-67 victory.  Henning hit 44% (27-61) of their field goal attempts and assisted on 18 of their 27 made baskets.

“Our guys battled through some adversity tonight and still took care of business,” said Henning Head Coach Randy Misegades.  “We certainly didn’t play a great game, but good teams find a way to win when they don’t play their best.  Give WDC credit.  They played hard, physical, and took some things away from us offensively, but we are proud of our overall team effort.  It takes the entire group to be successful, including guys doing a lot of things don’t show up in a box score.”

Mason Hammer poured in a game high 31 points and secured 8 rebounds.  Kale Misegades had 11 assists to go along with 7 points and 6 rebounds.  Lane Dilly pulled down 15 rebounds and scored 17 points for a double double.  Carter Dilly had 15 points.

“Carter Dilly was huge tonight,” noted Coach Misegades.  “He played through an injury and drilled some huge buckets.  Lane Dilly was all over the glass again and was 6-of-6 from the free throw line down the stretch.  Our team dug in and got key stops when we needed them to close out the game.”

Wadena-Deer Creek was paced by Teshe Loer with 18 points and Peyton Church with 16.  Kobe Snyder and Isaac Hamann had 9 points apiece and Snyder had a team high 7 rebounds.

Henning (18-1) will host New York Mills on Friday.

Wadena-Deer Creek (12-6) will host Pillager on Friday.
