OTC Junior Legion drops one to Sauk Centre but rebounds with two wins Over Alexandria

After watching the game slip away early on Monday in a 7-4 loss to Sauk Centre, the Ottertail Central Junior Legion team rebounded to beat Alexandria twice on Thursday, winning 9-4 and 5-1.

Sauk Centre took the lead on an error in the first inning of their Monday contest. OTC Junior Legion got on the board in the first inning when Hunter Haugen drew a walk, scoring one run. Sauk Centre scored three runs in the fourth inning.  Eli Fletcher, Hunter Danielson, and Ethan Dather all contributed in the big inning with RBIs. Fletcher pitched Sauk Centre to victory. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out seven. Owen Buehler took the loss for the Bulldogs. The pitcher went five innings, allowing seven runs on five hits and striking out two. Kale Misegades led OTC with two hits in four at bats. Dather went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Sauk Centre in hits.  Sauk Centre tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Fletcher led the way with five.

OTC Junior Legion fired up the offense in the first inning of their first game with Alex Red on Thursday, when Garrett Nelson tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. The Bulldogs tallied four runs in the seventh inning.  OTC batters contributing to the big inning included Garrett Kuhn-Rice and Owen Harig, each driving in runs. Gavin Pausch was the winning pitcher for OTC. The pitcher allowed four hits and four runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking one.  Owen Harig threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Cooper Running took the loss for Alex Red. Running surrendered four runs on five hits over three innings, striking out three. The Bulldogs saw the ball well, racking up ten hits in the game.  Nelson, Harig, and Haugen each collected two hits to lead the team. Alex Red racked up five hits.  Lawton Ketelson and John Botzet managed multiple hits for Alex Red.

In game 2 the OTC Junior Legion got on the board in the first inning when Gavin Pausch scored one run on a stolen base initiated by Owen Harig. The Bulldogs put up four runs in the second inning.  Garrett Kuhn-Rice, Lane Dilly, and Jayden Harig each drove in runs during the inning. Dilly took the win for OTC. The right hander went five innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out six and walking zero. Abe Pajori took the loss for Alex Red. He allowed seven hits and five runs over two innings, striking out one. Gavin Pausch, Jayden Harig, Dilly, Garrett Nelson, Soren Floden, Owen Harig, and Kuhn-Rice all had one hit to lead the Bulldogs. Lawton Ketelson went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead Alex Red.
