Henning High School senior Ethan Houselog has been active in football, basketball, track and field and trap shooting throughout his school years.  Houselog plans to go to either Concordia College in Moorhead of Bemidji State University, choosing Nursing as a major.  If he decides on Concordia he may play football for the Cobbers.

“Being involved in sports has made me more confident in myself and has helped me make stronger relationships with friend,” noted Houselog.

“Ethan has been a 3-year starter for us on our offensive and defensive line,” said Ottertail Central Head Coach Eric Olson.  “He has a great work ethic and great knowledge for the game of football.  Ethan is a great young man and a joy to work with.”

Ethan said that coming from behind to beat Parkers Prairie in the Section final in basketball his sophomore year is one of his top sports memories.

“Ethan Houselog is a tremendous teammate and leader within our basketball program,” stated Henning Boys Basketball Coach Randy Misegades.  “He will serve as a captain during his senior campaign.  Not only is Ethan a huge part of our basketball program, but also a great student and role model within our school and community.  He was a member of two straight Section 6A championship teams and the 2019 Class A State Title team.  He continues to work hard to improve, and will be counted on in the 2020-21 season to be a key contributor.”

Houselog was the Excel award winner, is a Boy Scout and loves fishing and hunting.

“Beyond performing on the trap range, Ethan takes it upon himself to be a mentor to our younger shooters,” said Trap Shooting Head Coach Dakota Aeling.  “Because of his actions he has become one of our most valuable shooters.  It isn’t every day that we get the pleasure of having a leader/coach/mentor with an athlete, but with Ethan that is exactly the case.”

Ethan has this advice for underclassmen, “Keep your head on straight.  Push through your hardships and don’t ever give anything less than 100% and you will have nothing to regret.”
